What are your Shipping Fees?

USPS continues to raise prices but they are still the best option for timely and reasonably priced shipping for smaller packages.  Current rates are as listed below:

 

UNITED STATES

 

Priority Mail: $10.99 Flat Rate regardless of how many items you purchase

First Class: $5.99 flat rate regardless of how many items you purchase

 

INTERNATIONAL PACKAGES

 

International First Class Mail:

Up to $50:  $9.50

$50.01 to $200.00:  $15.50

 

International Priority Mail:

Canada & Mexico: $25.00 flat rate, up to twelve (12) 1" wide collars

Other Countries: $30.00 flat rate, up to twelve (12) 1" wide collars 


How Do I Order?

All orders must be received via the shopping cart on the website.  We cannot accept phone orders or mail orders. Credit card information is not retained and our shopping cart is set to automatically process your credit card at time of order submission to make sure it is a valid payment method.  As a result, the financial information is never seen by The Dog Collar Store.


Are these products washable?

The fabric on these collars is typically 100% cotton. Therefore, you would launder it as you would your own cotton clothing.  Cold water will help preserve the colors, just as with your own clothes.  They can be washed in the washing machine but should lay flat to dry.  I personally handwash my collars in cold water, using gentle friction to remove the dirt.  You can also use Scotchguard for added protection.


What Size Should I Order?

The easiest and most accurate way of buying the right size collar is to measure the collar already on your dog then compare the length AND width to the sizes listed.  If not, make an educated guess as to how much more your dog is growing.  Additionally, you can measure your dog's neck and add about an inch for smaller dogs and up to two inches for larger dogs.

Don't have a ruler or tape measure? Use a piece of string then compare the length to a commonly sized item such as a standard sheet of paper - 8.5" X 11".

Please do not rely on labels such as "Small" or "Large" unless you have purchased our products before.  OUr sizing has not been chaned since we opened in 2004.  Every manufacturer and crafter has different labels for different sizes.  Please go by dimensions.


I need a different width and length combination on a custom collar. Is this possible?

Probably, just ask us.  Collars are available in widths of 5/8", 3/4" and 1" wide.  We can usually adjust the length as needed, as each item is made from scratch.  Use the Contact Us/Feedback Form to let us know what you need.  Please keep in mind that this is for custom handmade items only.  We cannot alter retail items.


What is your Exchange/Return Policy?

We will accept returns, but they are subject to a 25% restocking fee.  Items must be returned in new condition with no signs of having been worn.  Items are handmade after purchase and therefore, require use of labor and materials, some quite rare or difficult to replace.  Items are a complete loss to us upon return, so the 25% fee mitigates but does not eliminate our financial and material loss. 

We do not accept exchanges.  After 20 years in business, there have been too many complications with attempts at exchanges.  You are welcome to return for a refund.  If you repurchase the item in the correct size, the 25% restocking fee will be waived for the original item.

 

Please make sure the size you are choosing will fit. Look at the dimensions of the collar, not the title of the size.  If you are unsure of sizing, please measure your pet's current collar, their neck size or you can ask us... we may know based on previous sales or via internet research. The extra step of verifying the correct size saves a lot of time and expense related to a return.

Occasionally, fabric supply for an item will be exhausted and we will be unable to make a particular product for you.  We will contact you when this is discovered and will offer you the choice of substitution of another handmade item.  If we fail to receive a response within 48 hours, we will refund the cost of the item we are unable to complete and process the rest of the order. 

 

We require that all customers agree to this refund policy at checkout by checking a box before they can finalize the purchase.  A stated refund policy is required by all major credit cards and it is a legally binding agreement.
 


My dog pulls on his/her leash alot. Are these products sturdy?

Absolutely!  Over 75,000 collars have been made and sold over the years.  They are constructed of the same materials as dog collars in the pet stores but are softer and much nicer to look at!  Our own 90+ pound dogs have been using and pulling on them for years. 

As with any product, it is the consumers responsibility to determine the use of the product and appropriate supervision. The Dog Collar Store will not be held liable for any incidental, indirect or consequential damages arising from the sale, resale, use or misuse of its products.

Please use the Contact Us link in the menu on the left side of the store.  It is the best method to make sure your question will be answered. 

As an internet business, we utilize the internet for communication, never the telephone.  This is a home-based business located in California operating outside of "traditional business hours."  We request that you respect our privacy and avoid those 4 AM phonecalls... We cannot assist you without the business computer anyways... :-)

Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response, particularly on weekends or around holidays.  We respond to all emails.  If you have not received a response within 48 hours, your email or server is blocking our response or we are closed, which will be posted on the storefront.
